Chrome wall lights contemporary in design are just one type of wall light that is available today. There are many different designs and materials to choose from, and chrome is one that is always popular. It matches most interior design themes and looks attractive. But what exactly is chrome?
The word ‘chrome’ actually refers to what is known as chrome plating. It’s not a metal itself at all, even if it does look like it when chrome wall lights are installed and shine brightly. Chrome (or chrome plating or chromium plating) is the technique of electroplating a very thin layer of chromium onto a metal object. In order to add chrome to a wall light, for example, the underlying metal will need to be degreased using an industrial machine, and then cleaned by hand to remove the final traces of dirt. It will then be pre-treated with chemicals before being lowered into a vat of liquid chromium. Chrome plating is done for a variety of reasons. The first is that it protects the metal beneath, meaning that your wall lights, bumpers or anything else made of chrome will last for much longer without being damaged. The second reason for adding chrome to a metal object is that it gives it a beautiful finish. Chrome is bright and modern, and it looks wonderful in a contemporary setting. Another reason for using chrome is that it makes objects much easier to clean – a definite bonus. It can also increase the hardness of the surface, which makes the object much tougher.
