Chrome wall uplighters are a beautiful design concept that will enhance your living room or bedroom. They can be used outside too if the lighting is designed for that usage. In fact, these uplighters are so attractive that they can be used almost anywhere. Their brightness may be measured in lumens. What are they?
Lumens (which you will see denoted by the symbol ‘lm’) is a measure of the amount of visible light that comes from a light source such as wall lights. Lumens measure only what the human eye can see. It does, however, measure that light in all directions, not just what is coming towards someone. The higher the lumen rating on a lightbulb, the brighter the lamp using that bulb will be. This may be a different concept to the idea we have in our heads about watts. Many of us think that it is the number of watts that denote how bright our chrome wall lights are going to be. But it’s not the watts. It is the lumens. Watts relates to power consumption, so although the two are often linked, they are not the same thing. If you are looking for LED lighting, you can still work out the light’s brightness that you will get, however. If, for example, you want an LED lamp that has the same energy output as a 60W bulb, then you should look for one that is around 800 to 850 lumens. This is roughly equal and will give you at least an idea of what you will end up with.
