Wall mounted interior lights should certainly be on your shopping list when you are looking to make an impact with your new interior design. However, it is essential that you make sure you read the labels and information properly before you purchase a light to avoid the most common mistakes.
For example, are you sure that the interior wall lights you have chosen can take LED lightbulbs? Not all of them can at the moment. LED bulbs last for much longer than standard bulbs because they run at much cooler temperatures, and therefore literally don’t burn out so quickly. They do still produce heat, however – they create energy so it would be impossible for them not to. The difference is that although LED bulbs get hot, the heat is actually pulled away from them by a ‘heat sink’ which sits at the base of the bulb. The heat then dissipates into the air and allows the LED bulb to remain cool – and this allows it to have a much longer life. If your wall lights don’t have the right inside connectors and sinks, then there is no way for that heat to be dissipated. The heat will therefore be sent back to the bulb and it will gradually die. Therefore it is essential that you install the right bulbs in your wall lights otherwise you will damage the bulbs, possibly the light fittings, and you’ll end up spending more money than you need to. Your local wall lighting specialist will be able to give you advice.
