Why Choose Premium Custom Pendant Lights from the Cranbrook Collection?

We make all Cranbrook Collection pendant lights to order, from high-quality materials. Our glass shades are hand-blown in England, while the ceramic ones are handcrafted by Staffordshire potters.

Superior quality is just one of the advantages of handmade lighting. Because we produce the Cranbrook Collection to order, we offer a high degree of customisation. The premium linen flex comes in your choice of eight colours, and the solid steel fittings in any of four different finishes.

Choosing Your Perfect Pendant Lights

There are several factors that go into your choice of pendant light. One of the key considerations both practically and aesthetically speaking is size.

We have produced a complete guide to choosing the right size pendant lights. In brief, however, you will want to choose based on the size of the space available and the décor around it. Larger rooms will of course accommodate larger and/or multiple pendant lights without being dominated. Those intended for tighter spaces, such as hallway pendant lights, may need narrow shades, on the other hand, to keep things proportionate.

As for décor, you must decide what role the pendant light plays – both in combination with general décor and with other layers of lighting. If you want the pendant light to be a feature in itself, you may want to choose a large, elaborate shade or even a cluster pendant light. Suppose you want your living room pendant light to simply provide a base for your overall lighting scheme, with the focus more on the accent lighting or the features they are placed to highlight. In this case, you will probably want a more attractively understated pendant, which might also mean choosing a smaller one than you otherwise might.

Of course, you will also want to choose options that match your décor. For example, you want a finish that complements both your colour scheme and the specific style you are going for. Antique brass pendant lights are especially popular, and ideal for vintage-style spaces and a while host of others. Nickel pendant lights, meanwhile, give a bright, modern look, and offer a similar look to chrome but with a more durable finish.

Pendant Lighting FAQ

Can you Supply Matching Wall Lights?

Yes, we supply matching Cranbrook Collection wall lights, with all the same finishes and shade styles on a choice of fittings. Many of our shades are also designed to complement each other, so you have plenty of choice beyond a strict, one-for-one style match.

Can These Pendant Lights be Used in Bathrooms?

Depending on the exact location in the room, your lights may not need any special IP-rating, though we generally recommend an IP44 rating regardless. We offer dedicated IP44-rated premium bathroom light options for much of the Cranbrook Collection, covering both pendant and wall lights. If you don’t see a bathroom version of the style you want, contact us – as we make these lights to order we can provide a bathroom version as a custom request.

Do I Need an Electrician to Install New Pendant Lights?

It is certainly recommended that you have your pendant lights installed by a competent and qualified electrician. This is true for all lights, and especially where no existing power source is available and new cables must be run to the location. Typically power is already in place for pendant lights, but if you want complementary wall lights without the expense and disruption of having new cables installed, we also offer a range of Cranbrook Collection rechargeable wall lights which can be easily installed with basic DIY skills and without a mains power source.
