Our outoor wall lights can dramatically change how your property can look at night. We can obsess over how our house looks during the day, so why should night be any different? Strategically placed glass wall lights outside can really accentuate the positives of your property's exterior. However, before you decide on a light, you need to decide on its purpose. Why do you need a wall light? Is it to bring out the positive features of your home? Is it for security – will they feature motion sensors to let you know when someone is on your property? Is it to help with access during the night? Or are you trying to create a sense of theatre for you and your guests by coating a wall with wall lighting parallel to the path and up to the front door? Secondly, there's a choice of which light to use. Different fixtures will have different fittings to go with different types of bulbs. If you'd like a light that gives off some heat as you wait by the back door on a cold dark night (cat lovers will understand), halogen bulbs are great options. These bulbs always give off a warmer and whiter glow than LED. However, outside wall mounted lights that use LED have improved beyond measure in recent years thanks to technological advancements. They now produce a quality of light that is close to halogen, but don't give off any heat. They can, though, be cheaper to run and bulbs can last 50,000 hours when compared to halogen bulbs (5,000 to 10,000 hours).
Even after you've answered the salient questions of why you need the lighting and what type of lighting you want, there's still more to consider. You obviously want to find wall mounted outdoor wall lights that fit in with the exterior of your property and the surroundings where it will be located. You can find outside wall lights that have been specifically created for the purposes of fitting into certain designs. Traditional, contemporary, vintage and industrial are just a few of the popular styles of outdoor lighting. You will also find a number of different materials such as aluminium, bronze, chrome and brass outside wall lights. Once you've selected the fixture that you are looking for, you then need to safely fit the wall light or have a qualified electrician do it for you. This involves drilling a hole to fit the fixture, connecting the cables from the light to your mains power supply and applying a sealant to stop any water from leaking through the hole. It can also be a good idea to apply a residual current device (RCD) to protect you from any fatal electrical shocks that can come from touching a bare wire during the procedure. But, of course, in order to start this process, you first need to find the right wall lighting solutions. While you may have an idea of what you want and why you want it, you still need to find somewhere to buy such wall lighting fixtures – try The Wall Lighting Company Ltd. We find that swan neck outdoor lights are very popular with homeowners who are more design-conscious.
A big part of safety is also finding a provider of well-built, sturdy outdoor wall lights. They must cope with far more trying conditions than interior wall lights, they need to have been built with the outdoors in mind.
